Dutch Juice

So, fonts… that’s why were all here right? Right. Im not going to bore you with design choices, lets get on with it

I needed something old, something bold, yet something that fit the dutch language. Belgium is a proudly old country, and much of its design work fits that bill. Granted, maybe not all the way to the 1500s, but they have a very very long period of time to flex, and that they do. But… I knew i was going to need something odd as well.

Dirty Crown Regular. What a peculiar font, its a font that id personally see more fit to match with a wanted poster, but for something like this it worked out mostly perfect. Warping it on the other hand was a waking nightmare. In short, you had to nail the initial size right, then expand it, then use envelope distort to get it right. Oh, and you had to separate the Pittage from the Dranken. I know that doesn’t sound too advanced, and that’s because it isn’t, but the art came with making it look right. It took about 3 hours of trying, resetting, and doing it again to make it look juuuuusssst right.

Nickel Gothic Regular. The second choice. You might be expecting a long winded creative response, but no. In my opinion the flavor of the drink should be ultra-readable. So I went big and bold, that and I liked it better than Dirty Crown. That’s all.
